Winter Fest 2011

I just wanted to remind everyone to come out to the Pre-K Center tomorrow from 12-3 p.m. for our annual Winter Fest. There will be food, games, a silent basket auction, and even Santa Claus! Hope to see you tomorrow!

Pumpkin Fun

Just a reminder....please try to send in a small pumpkin for your child next week.  We are doing a special project and then the pumpkins will be displayed in our class.

Apple

This week we tasted various types of apples, tried apple cider, made apple quesadillas, and enjoyed yummy applesauce that we made together in our class!  See the recipe below:

5 apples
3/4 cup of water
1 tablespoon of sugar
1 teaspoon of cinnamon

Put all ingredients in a crockpot.  Cook for several hours and mash with a potato masher.  Enjoy!

Apple Fun!

Wow....what a busy week we have had with learning about apples.  The students have learned about different types of apples as well as the parts of an apple.  On Friday, we enjoyed our favorite type of apple.  Please check out the pictures below!

All about me!

This week we began learning "All About Me". The students have been talking about how they are similar to  each other and how they are different.  On Friday, we will be making a special treat to enjoy for snack. 

Just a reminder, please return the All About Me bags so the students can share what makes them and their family so special.

Red Day

Colors, colors, colors!

For the next two weeks, we will begin a unit learning about colors.  We will explore what happens when we mix colors together, we will taste various foods, and paint with unique items (beet juice, lemon jello, and blueberry juice).

Since we are learning about colors, please allow your child to dress accordingly on the following days:

Monday, Aug. 29 - Red day

Tuesday, Aug. 30 - Picture day (dress to impress)

Wednesday, Aug. 31 - Orange day

Thursday, Sept. 1 - Yellow day

Friday, Sept. 2 - No School

Monday, Sept. 5 - No School

Tuesday, Sept. 6 - Green day

Wednesday, Sept. 7 - Blue day

Thursday, Sept. 8 - Purple day

Friday, Sept. 9 - Brown day

Success with shapes!

We had a great time learning about shapes in our class this week.  The students found some cool shapes around the school.  We are going to use these pictures to make a class book to put in our reading center.

Next week we will be learning about shapes.  We are going to be making shape trains, shape fish, and sorting crackers by shape.

First week in school

We have started the school year off on the right track.  We have introduced centers in our classroom and the students have enjoyed exploring the areas.  The students are adjusting to our daily schedule and learning the rules in school.
